Come and Busk in Pitlochry – Busking Period – October 7-29
The award winning Enchanted Forest Sound and Light Show ‘Transitions’ in the Highland town of Pitlochry is expected to attract 25 000 visitors this year and runs from October 7th to the 31st. Busking in Pitlochry during this period has been a very popular activity in the past, and once again Pitlochry welcomes any musicians who’d like to visit the town, entertain the visitors, and of course keep their hard won earnings at the end of the day!
Unfortunately unlike previous years there’s nothing ‘officially’ organised this year for buskers, but the town is very keen to make it widely known that anyone wanting to come along and play on the street to the thousands of visitors will be made very welcome. For best timings keep in mind that ‘The Enchanted Forest’ is an evening event held in darkness! The light shows run at various ticketed times from around 6.30pm to 9pm so visitors will be in town from before and after this. Although the show is based just outside Pitlochry all visitors must travel from the town centre, as there is no car parking at the site. Please contact Martin Anderson on 01796 472 478 if you’d like to perform and he’ll help with all the info you need.
Perthshire award winning ‘The Enchanted Forest’ sound and light show is a feast for your senses. The 2011 event offers visitors a unique opportunity to experience the outdoors, at night and with spectacular imagery. Using the woodland garden as a natural backdrop, you will experience a lighting show that is, quite simply, out of this world. The Enchanted Forest swept the floor at this month’s prestigious Scottish Event Awards, beating off stiff competition from some of Scotland’s finest events to scoop the Event Management Grand Prix, alongside the awards for Best Cultural Event and a commendation for Best Large Event. You can find out more about the ‘Enchanted Forest’ at www.enchantedforest.org.uk
Pitlochry is set in spectacular scenery with Edinburgh only 75 minutes and Glasgow and Inverness about 1hr 45minutes by road, plus there is a railway station. For a small highland town there is an incredible range of restaurants, cafes and eateries to discover, offering a great choice from the simple fish and chips to top of the range menus that compare favourably to those you will find in many larger towns or cities. There is a diverse range of retail outlets from the small sole trader to the multinational outlets in the town.
So if you’re an experienced busker or fancy a friendly introduction to the world of street playing before taking on Glasgow or Edinburgh head to Pitlochry one evening in October!
