MUSIC NEWS Scotland + …..

the Scottish music industry’s weekly newspapers

MUSIC NEWS Scotland was born 22 years ago when dial up internet access was still around and desktop pc’s ruled.

So we did what had been done since 220 AD in China and every month put ink on a printing plate, ran some paper over it and hey presto MNS was published (okay it was a wee bit more involved than that, but the basic principle was the same!)

MNS - Dec25Move on to 2011 with high speed broadband and access to the www everywhere and the future was catching up with us rapidly. The volume of information flowing into MNS HQ was more than our monthly issue could cope with, and more and more Scottish music stories of great value were being spiked (an old press term not a dodgy drink). Reaching our vast number of readers in every conceivable nook and cranny of Scotland had always been a challenge monthly but to do that more often was physically not feasible.

So we have doffed oor tam o’ shanter to the future and MNS since early 2011 became a digital publication split into three titles that roll out weekly – and MNS itself now has 10 more pages than our old printed friend!

Along with our MNS GIGguide and MNS FESTIVALS!MNS FESTIVALS - Dec23-7-frontcover supplements we are now producing at least 22 pages of Scottish music news (and only music news, no theatre or cinema stuff!) each and EVERY week:)

Thank you everyone so much for your superb support over the last 22 years allowing us to get to this stage, and please raise a glass to our digital future with you all.

Just wondering if the news from the States reached Glasgow about your own George Donaldson winning the Irish Music Association award for best solo performance by an artist in concert or show for 2013? George can be found in Jinty MC Guinty’s, Ashton Lane, ( Glasgow) pub on Sunday nights, when he isn’t touring the world with the Celtic Thunder company. Currently singing with the troupe in Australia! Good man!
